This charming yuletide event offers visitors a magical festival experience in a unique waterside village setting with market traders selling a range of Christmas gifts, seasonal food and stocking fillers. It is situated on the George's Dock platform, in the chq building and the surrounding walkways. Based on Christmas markets seen in mainland Europe the event has been hugely successful in previous years.

Greg Ward of Raw Marketing says ‘‘The Market, now in it's 7th year, is expected to attract over 150,000 visitors from Ireland and abroad. This year promises to be its best to date and we are very proud of our involvement in the event which continues to grow and thrive. A visit to the market has already become a tradition among many Dubliners and visitors from further afield".

The Christmas Market is a great place to bring the kids to see Santa, soak up the warmth of the season and treat yourself to deliciously indulgent hot chocolate, beers or traditional mulled wine. Hungry shoppers will appreciate the deliciously indulgent arrays of continental pastries, minced pies and a selection of food stalls cooking up a variety of tempting treats. Enticing gourmet treats and delicacies like cheeses, cakes and other goodies will be on sale, the perfect present for any foodie.

Back by popular demand this year is the beautifully restored showpiece ‘Galloping Horses' Carousel and other fairground attractions as well as crafts for adults and children alike. And, to ensure a really festive atmosphere, there will be carol singers and bands on hand on selected days to perform a feel good selection of Christmas favorites.

Santa's Green Grotto

To celebrate the true giving spirit of Christmas, Airtricity, Ireland's greenest energy provider, is teaming up with Santa Claus and Barnardos to create Santa's all-new Green Grotto at the Dublin Docklands Christmas Market 2011 in the IFSC.

Thanks to Airtricity, a visit to Santa's Green Grotto at the event will be entirely free for all boys and girls. Opening on Saturday 10 December for selected dates during the Market, Airtricity and Santa Claus are encouraging all visitors to the Grotto to make a cash donation to Barnardos, Ireland's leading independent children's charity, while there or to leave a gift at Santa's Giving Tree for distribution to boys and girls attending Barnardos this Christmas.

Young visitors to Santa's Green Grotto will enjoy a magical and fascinating experience as they play in Santa's all-new Green Technology Workshop, before having the chance to meet Santa Claus himself. Santa's Green Grotto is powered by Airtricity with green energy from the North Pole's first-ever wind farm.

Santa's Green Grotto, located in the CHQ building, is open 12pm-7pm on Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 December, Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 December, and on Thursday 22 and Friday 23 December, before Santa returns home to the North Pole to prepare for Christmas Eve.
