Point Village Market Opens on May 29th
VSC Events Ltd. in collaboration with Dublin City Council, launches Dublin city's biggest outdoor weekend market, opening 29th May 2010, at the Point Village beside The O2. The market will run from 9am - 5.30pm on Saturday and Sunday of every week. Family friendly and accessible via the new Luas line with over 100 stalls, the Point Village Market promises a large variety of high quality goods.
""We are striving to be an affordable, high quality, entertaining and colourful market.," explained Vanessa Clarke of VSC.
"You can get anything from a loaf of bread to new wheels for your bicycle," stated Clarke. "Some of the handcrafters we've recruited will offer custom-made merchandise, from jewellery to furniture to clothing. The vendors take special pride in helping shoppers find just what they're looking for."
The Point Village Market will seamlessly integrate with a series of free outdoor concerts planned by Aiken Promotions, the World Tourist Attractions 60-meter Big Wheel (which will be Ireland's biggest), the four star Gibson Hotel (opening in July) and Harry's Bar - underneath the market.
Michael Stubbs, Assistant City Manager has stated that he is delighted with this imaginative piece of urban initiative. The market will be programmed with various interactive elements to add life, noise and colour; live music, Outdoor Yoga, Art Workshops, Graffiti Walls, Fashion Shows, and Urban Dance/Sport Demonstrations to name but a few.
Supporting local economy and start up business, 15 pitches per week will be dedicated to art and design students showcasing and selling their wares and a further 15 dedicated to members of the public for house clear out/yard sale. The regular core stalls encompassing the remaining units have been hand picked by VSC events, exercising a high level of quality control in programming a market that is sustainable, affordable, high quality and entertaining space. Like Camden Market in London, the Market envisaged is modern and vibrant, while recreating the charm of an old fashioned market place. Encompassing elements from the traditional Farmers' market to crafts, household goods and bespoke fashion retail.
