Sunshine and showers at the 7th Docklands Maritime Festival !
The sun showed up for this year's Docklands Maritime Festival on Friday and Saturday and thousands of visitors came out to enjoy the balmy weather by the River Liffey. This year's event had a variety of attractions and entertainment perfect for visitors young and old with a highlight being the 180 swimmers taking to the water on Saturday evening for the Docklands Swim. Sunday and Monday saw the rain arrive and made it the perfect weather for younger visitors to enjoy the Custard Pie Puppet Theatre in the chq building.
Queues formed early at the L.E. Eithne, the Jeanie Johnston, Artemis and the Georg Stage who were open for tours during the Festival. On the main stage, the Bugle Babes, the Gypsy Jazz Quartet and the Roaring Forties were among those entertaining the crowds. And wandering around the Docklands were a whole range of interesting characters including the graceful and beautiful, bubble blowing water-nymphs, not to mention the performing rat in its own wheelie bin! Just part of the wide range of musical acts and street performers that kept the crowds entertained.
