Design Week 2008 exhibition at the chq building in Dublin's Docklands
To coincide with this year's IDI Designweek an exciting exhibition of lighting, storage units, dining and coffee tables, chairs and other furniture will take place at the chq building in Dublin's Docklands from Monday 3rd November to Saturday 8th November from 10am to 6pm daily. Admission is free and all are welcome.
Organised by the Irish Furniture Designers Network (IFDN), the exhibition has been established to introduce original interior pieces and to establish a forum to create public awareness of quality contemporary Irish design.
IFDN was set up in 2002 to promote Irish product designers through its website, exhibitions and promotional literature.
The chq building houses a range of quality retail outlets including home furnishings and accessories stores, Meadows & Byrne and Environment Furniture: beauty and cosmetics specialist, Nue Blue Eriu; ladies' boutiques, Fran & Jane, The Pink Room and Kohl; designer shoe store, Fitzpatricks; fashion and textiles designer, Ciaran Sweeney; Mitchell & Son, one of Ireland's best known wine merchants, luxurious baby and gift boutique, Bunnies by the Bay and menswear specialists Louis Copeland and Henry Jermyn.
Also located in the chq building are popular cafés, Insomnia, Starbucks and House of Tea and the Carphone Warehouse. In addition, the ely wine bar has been trading successfully at the chq building since June 2006.
The chq building (formerly known as Stack A), located in the heart of Dublin's Docklands, overlooking the River Liffey, was built in 1820 as a wine and tobacco warehouse. The then Stack A was made famous when it hosted the Crimean War Banquet in 1856 celebrating the return of 3,000 Irish soldiers.
The building has been magnificently restored and enhanced by the Docklands Authority, recently winning the title of Best Conversation/Restoration Project at the prestigious Royal Institute of the Architects of Ireland (RIAI) Awards 2008. This follows chq's award earlier this year for Best Conservation Project at the Irish Planning Institute's National Planning Awards 2008
The chq building is located in the heart of the IFSC and is just an eight minute walk from O'Connell Street. The building faces George's Dock, the site of the new Abbey Theatre.

Getting to the chq building
The chq building is located in the IFSC on Custom House Quay, opposite the Sean O'Casey Bridge, in Docklands, approximately eight minutes walk from O'Connell Bridge. Parking is available at Jury's Inn, Custom House Quay and also at the NCI Carpark at Mayor Street.
Trains and DARTS stop at Pearse Street, Tara Street, Connolly and the new Docklands Station. See www.irishrail.ie
