Grand Canal Square is rapidly becoming the commercial and cultural heart of the area

"To create a truly vibrant 24/7 community, commercial, retail, residential and cultural components must communicate in a fluid and transparent dialogue." Daniel Libeskind

Set in the heart of Dublin's south Docklands, Grand Canal Square is rapidly becoming the commercial and cultural heart of the area. Designed by acclaimed international architect Daniel Libeskind, the Grand Canal Square development incorporates three eye-catching office buildings, totaling over 36,500 sq.m and each enjoying their own distinct profile and identity with striking glass facades and sculptured shapes.

The buildings flank the Martha Schwartz meticulously designed square and have the exciting and ground-breaking Grand Canal Theatre as their centrepiece. Set to become a beacon of Irish society and entertainment once completed in December 2009, the 2,000-seat West End-style Grand Canal Theatre will act as a dramatic façade for the public square.

This spectacular office development has already attracted two of Ireland's most highly regarded law practices - BCM Hanby Wallace and William Fry Solicitors. They will be leasing a combined total of over 25,000 sq.m and are accompanied by a third 11,205 sq.m headquarter office building known as ‘5 Grand Canal Square' currently available to let. These three distinctive office buildings will also contain two smaller retail units of approximately 145 sq.m. Due for occupation in 2010, Grand Canal Square will be marked as one of Dublin's most desirable office locations.

The development will also benefit from the opening of the new Convention Centre at Spencer Dock, the distinctive 5 Star Monogram Group Hotel and the four lane Samuel Beckett Bridge.

Libeskind's design marks an exciting step forward in delivering an architectural legacy for the Docklands which has undergone tremendous redevelopment. The Grand Canal Square development further enhances the new urban structure of Grand Canal Dock with an exciting cultural landmark and magnet for Dublin creating a destination for working, shopping, and entertainment.
