KC Peaches & St. Vincent De Paul launch 'Get Giving this Thanksgiving' food drive!
Initiative launches 1 November to raise more than 500 food donations by St. Vincent De Paul Week 7 - 13 December
KC Peaches and St. Vincent De Paul have teamed up to encourage Dubliners to 'Get Giving This Thanksgiving' by dropping off non-perishable packaged and canned food items at KC Peaches from 1 November through 30 November. The donations will be distributed to the St. Vincent de Paul conference at St. Michael's Inchicore. Currently, more than 1500 families seek assistance at our conferences in the Dublin region.
"Growing up in America, November has always been a time to give thanks for all the year's blessing and enjoy a meal with family and friends,' said Katie Cantwell, owner of KC Peaches. "Throughout the month of November, KC Peaches will be collecting donations of canned food items to help local families in need this winter. Food donations are a small way to make a meaningful impact.
"In addition to providing a 10% discount to say thanks to our customers for their donations, we will also partner with other organizations to raise additional donations for St. Vincent De Paul."
'St. Vincent De Paul's spokesperson, Ian Campbell, stated, "We are pleased to collaborate with KC Peaches on this important effort to provide food to Dubliners in need. St. Vincent De Paul Week, 7 - 13 December, is an important week for distributing food and toys to families in advance of Christmas to ensure they are able to celebrate on the holiday. This year, in particular, has been challenging for many families and we encourage anyone passing KC Peaches on Pearse Street to drop in their donation."
In many countries, including the United States and Canada, autumn marks the start of Thanksgiving, a time to give thanks for the year's blessings and traditionally, a bountiful harvest. KC Peaches is committed to healthy, wholesome dining and encourages the donation of canned fruits, vegetables, beans and more to ensure that food donations provide important vitamins and nutrients.
The following are examples of items for donation:
- Canned vegetables, beans, soups, fruit and pastas
- Breakfast cereals
- Pasta and canned or jarred sauces
- Tea and coffee
- Sugar
- Packages of biscuits, sweets, Christmas selection boxes, packaged cakes and crisps
Donations can be dropped off at KC Peaches during business hours (Monday - Friday 8am to 8pm, Saturday 10am-4pm and Sunday 11am-4pm). As a token of its appreciation, KC Peaches will provide all individuals who participate a 10% discount off any purchase.
KC Peaches was founded in 2006 by Katie Cantwell, who traded in her career in corporate consulting, to pursue something a little sweeter in Dublin. With a passion for food developed in her native Seattle, she yearned to bring fresh, flavourful food to the masses. Her pursuit of that simple joy led to the creation of KC Peaches.
