Both courses for parents are run in IFSC Clarion over four evenings starting 28th September. Dr. John Sharry, Child and Family Psychotherapist, Author, Developer of the Parents Plus Programmes and Irish Times Parenting Columnist will facilitate the courses.

Course 1 Parenting pre-teens and teenagers

Tackling the ups and downs of the teenage years when children pull
away from their parents and become more challenging, this course will
help you understand your teenagers while also helping them grow up as
independent confident young adults. The course will describe the best
way to set rules and to manage behaviour problems and difficulties.
Overall the course will focus on how to get on better with teenagers
and to turn this challenging transition into an opportunity for
deepening your relationship.

Course 2 Parenting pre-schoolers and young children

Dealing with the challenges of raising toddlers and young children,
this course will present a positive parenting model that helps them
learn and which builds their self esteem and confidence. In particular
you will learn how to ‘tune into' the stage of development of your
children to understand their individual needs. The course will also
cover dealing with the challenges such as tantrums and opposition and
show you the best way to set rules and to get children to behave
positively.
