The new Point Village on Ice proudly takes its place amongst famous capital city ice rinks around the world like Rockefeller in New York, Somerset House in London & Red Square in Moscow. Skate in the open air or beneath the stars overlooked by the landmark big wheel (Revolver) in a beautiful winter wonderland with a massive funfair to add to the thrills and chills of the festive season. The Point Village on Ice is open from 10am every day until January 10th 2011 and is THE quintessential Christmas experience. Widely anticipated to be the largest and most spectacular ice skating rink and largest winter attraction in Dublin, The Point Village on Ice features an enormous 5000 square foot open air ice rink.
The event features a magical outdoor Ice rink, massive funfair, a viewing area, rink-side café with steaming hot chocolate and n-ice winter treats. The Point Village on Ice has fun for all the family with thrilling rides such as the Vertical Dropzone, Superbob Bobsleigh, Dodgems, Waltsers, the Toytown Carousel for younger children and Chairoplanes.
The LUAS red line stops right at the door so families can park, ride and slide or hop on and hop off to enjoy the electric atmosphere of the city centre under the twinkling Christmas lights. The 12 days of Christmas Fair, the brand new CCD & Grand Canal Theatre and many concerts at The O2 will be buzzing for Christmas and over 40,000 people are expected to attend the event.
This is the only outdoor ice rink with real ice this Christmas in Dublin city. The total weight of the ice is 15 tonnes which is frozen layer upon layer over 5 kilometers of ice tubing like an enormous freezer element! The Ice takes 5 days to freeze and would provide enough crushed ice to make 1,250,000 cocktails!
The Point Village on Ice is open until January 10th 2011 from 10am to 10pm weekdays and from 10am to 11pm and special late nigh sessions for concert nights. Tickets are €8 for children and €10 for adults or €30 for 2 adults and 2 children. Special offers are available for the Revolver Observation Wheel and Skating also.
