Remember This Summer in Dublin

From Outdoor Opera to Soul Picnic, 3 Ring Circus to ‘Movies on the Square’ and Armani to Zara – the leisure, cultural and fashion retail offering of Summer in Dublin 2007 is second to none.
Dublin City Business Association and Dublin City Council today (Tuesday, 15th May) officially launched the ‘Summer in Dublin 2007’ programme of activities along with representatives of the city’s fashion retailing and cultural organisations.

Dublin City Centre has an average daily footfall of 660,000 which creates a unique and enjoyable atmosphere that cannot be replicated anywhere in Ireland. According to Tom Coffey, CEO, DCBA, DublinCity offers an unrivalled mix of culture, leisure, character, atmosphere and of course shopping that combine to create a unique offering for Ireland. “The family fun festivals, galleries, parks, buskers, unique atmosphere and fashion choice available in Dublin City Centre create the perfect shopping and leisure destination. In addition, public transport and general access has never been better and we just want to remind people that Dublin is their Capital City and to come in and enjoy all that it has to offer for themselves.” he said.

This summer there is an extensive programme of leisure and cultural events for all the family developed by a broad range of organisations including Temple Bar Cultural Trust, Dublin Docklands Development Authority, Dublin City Council, OPW, James Joyce Centre and the National Museum of Ireland. “We encourage people to come and experience Summer in Dublin, there is something for all the family” said  Michael Sands, Communications Manager with Dublin City Council.

From a shopping perspective Dublin City Centre has 4,000 shops and 10 department stores and shopping centres and retains its position as the leading fashion destination in Ireland. “The city has changed remarkably in the last number of years – the quality of the display and buildings has improved enormously – it has developed into a truly European cosmopolitan café-society style Capital.” Added Mr. Coffey.

Dublin City Business Association represents the retailers, property owners and transport companies in Dublin City Centre. Collectively its members employ 25,000 people.
