Dublin Dance Festival in the Docklands 2008
The 2008 Dublin Dance Festival (DDF), from this year an annual event, will be offering audiences 51 performances by 24 artists/companies from 14 countries over 10 venues from 17th April - 3rd May.
And the Docklands will be dancing in step with the festival!
Bumper to Bumper, a headphone disco, will see thousands of people silently strutting their stuff in Grand Canal Square on April the 19th.
This live-broadcast, outdoor event is presented by Dublin Dance Festival and Dublin Docklands Development Authority in association with Phantom 105.2, with the station's Sinéad Ní Mhórdha and Jim Carroll going head to head on the decks. All audience members need to do is make sure they pick up tickets in advance, and bring their headphones and FM radio device tuned to 105.2 (and their very best dancing shoes) for a nifty, noiseless night out!
This event is free, but ticketed, with gates opening at 6.30 pm and the event running from 7pm-10pm. Tickets are limited to 4 per person, and the event is strictly over 18's - ID must be presented at the time of collection and at the event. Tickets do not guarantee admission after 7.15pm, and as this event is outdoors, audiences are advised to dress warmly.
Tickets will be available from the Box Office located at the chq building, IFSC, Docklands, Dublin 1 on April 2 & 3, and from then on from the Dublin Dance Festival box office at Temple Bar Cultural Information Centre (opposite Meeting House Square, 12 East Essex Street, Temple Bar, Dublin 2. For more information on Bumper to Bumper visit www.dublindancefestival.ie, www.dublindocklands.ie or www.phantom.ie
Also in the Docklands, the festival will be Re-Presenting Ireland. Dublin Dance Festival and Dance Ireland are committed to providing Irish dance artists with opportunities and platforms from which to present their work. Supported by Culture Ireland, Re-Presenting Ireland is a mixed-bill of Irish dance work, a showcase for some of the best talent throughout Ireland. As part of that programme, Dance Theatre of Ireland will be presenting Block Party, an outdoor performance, also in Grand Canal Square. This work will be performed on the 25th and 26th April, at 12 noon and 1 pm, and lasts just 30 minutes.
